Community of Schools on the Park (COSOP)

The COSOP program is a joint venture involving all of the local public schools from Engadine, Heathcote and Waterfall.

Rationale

The Community of Schools on the Park has been forged to showcase and provide outstanding quality teaching and learning opportunities for students in our unique bushland setting.

Our strength as a community of public schools, K-12, lies in the fact that we are ideally positioned to share a range of expertise, facilities and programs to ensure that all of our students reach their potential in a positive, supportive environment.

We believe that this will be best achieved through a strong foundation of common values which we will develop in students through curriculum and the co-curricular dimensions of our schools. These values - the love of learning, aiming for high standards, care and respect for ourselves and others, care and respect for families and communities, respect for work, proud Australians and global citizens are described in the “Values we Teach” [November 2001].

Through a love of learning, or on the sporting field, in caring for our environment or by promoting a passion for the arts, we will demonstrate to our community the diverse ways that public schools nurture these values in our children. Collectively, they are woven through all that we do.

As a Community of Schools on the Park, we are proud of our achievements. We offer the best education and opportunities so that our students will be prepared to live with each other in a complex, changing world and make positive contributions as global citizens.

The Staff Development Day in Term 2, 2011 will bring all schools together at Engadine High School to hear professional speakers and to engage in dialogue about best teaching practice. The fact that we can all get together to work in this fashion, provides enormous benefits for students in our public schools.

The official launch of the Community of Schools on the Park was held at Engadine West Public School on the 22nd September 2009. The gallery below shows photos of the combined band and the Engadine High School Stage Band that entertained at morning tea.
