Vocal Ensembles
Engadine High School has a comprehensive vocal program that incorporates the following ensembles;
Vocal Group – this ensemble is a contemporary choir that specialises in performance of popular, jazz, blues and rock songs. They learn about harmony, balance, solo and ensemble techniques, stagecraft, choreography and microphone techniques. This ensemble has performed in many school, department and community events including PROBUS conferences, MADD night, Education Week, formal assemblies and performing for visiting international schools and dignitaries.
Choir – This ensemble is specifically designed to perform for official functions and specific community events that require a more formal vocal ensemble. The highlight of the year for this group of singers was to be invited to be part of the Expanding Horizons Gala Concert at the Opera House along with other choirs from across the region. Our performance program includes pieces from the classical repertoire, Australian folk songs and music from other cultures.
Many of our singers perform in both ensembles in order to gain the experience of a diverse repertoire.
Band Vocalists – Throughout the year we have events, tours, concerts and performances from our Band Program that require vocals. Any singer in the school can audition to be part of these performances as a soloist or member of a small ensemble.
Our award winning Linkages Program will include Vocal Ensembles in 2012 and we will also be presenting ’13 The Musical in Term 2 as part of our 2012 performance program.
