Congratulations to Amy Cook for her selection in the Australian swim team for the disability games to be held in Noumea, New Caledonia. Amy is a conscientious student in our Support Unit who still manages to find time to train six days per week! We wish her every success. She is an inspiration to us all.

Welcome Back

Welcome to Term 2 at Engadine High School. Although it is only a nine week term, it will be eventful beginning with the Year 7 camp this Wednesday. We remind students that they need to be at school by 8am.  This will be a wonderful opportunity for Year 7 students to get to know each other and their teachers and participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.

Our Swimmers make a huge Splash!

Our EHS State Swimming Team participated in the CHS Swimming Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre over 3 gruelling days of competition. This year saw our biggest team ever compete in the carnival with almost 30 EHS students participating in individual and team events.

Motion Racing - National Champions!

Motion Racing is the 2013 National Champion of the ‘F1 in Schools Car Challenge – Professional Class’! They competed at the Aviation Show in Melbourne last week during a grueling three-day competition where they were judged on engineering, marketing, verbal presentation, portfolio, pit display and the speed of their car. Their car achieved 1.078 seconds over a 20metre track; and during Reaction Racing, 1.058 seconds.

Inspiring Community Spirit

A wonderful example of community participation in the life of a local high school was at the Motion Racing Sponsor’s Night. All of the sponsors and supporters of our State champions came together to meet the team in person and wish them well at the Nationals; hear their impressive presentation; and see their pit area which was complete with all of their sponsor’s logos.

Year 7 Love High School

It is rewarding to see how quickly and easily Year 7 students have settled into high school life.  They certainly look spectacular in the new uniform, which they wear with pride. I have had numerous opportunities to engage in conversation with these keen young people about high school life. Without exception, they have told me how much they love high school. In particular, they have mentioned their teachers; the variety of subjects on offer; great facilities (especially music, science, engineering and the Library); making new friends; yummy canteen food; and, how grown up they feel in their new environment.

Engadine Students Deliver Excellent HSC Results

Nerves abounded as Year 12 students from Engadine High School waited anxiously for their HSC results. The anxiety was quickly relieved as excited students received what were some of the strongest results for a number of years. The percentage of Bands 5 and 6 underpinned many fine ATARs and above State average performances across most subjects.
