We believe that all students should learn in a safe, challenging and disciplined learning environment. Our system is based in the core values of mutual respect, equity, fairness and acceptance of others regardless of differences. These values permeate all of our programs and approaches to learning and welfare.
At Engadine High School students learn to better accept responsibility for the choices they make at the same time as understanding that if those choices are inappropriate, there are consequences. We believe that no student has the right to disrupt the learning of others.
Our discipline system is structured and easy to understand. Integral to our discipline approach is a restorative justice approach which gives students skills in managing tricky situations. We aim to create an environment where respectful relationships exist in our school and students develop skills in emotional intelligence so that they can all learn.
Our Welfare team’s primary focus is to support our students. The team consists of the Welfare Coordinator, Year Advisers, School Counsellors, Careers Adviser, Learning Support staff and two Deputy Principals. Their role is to work with students, parents and staff to ensure that the needs of students are addressed.
Every person at Engadine High School has the right to experience positive relationships based on our values. School-based programs are designed to strengthen each child’s skills in building resilience, self confidence and conflict management. Our Welfare programs include:
- Transition and Orientation Day for Year 6 students
- Peer Support Training for Year 7 students
