PROBUS

We have established highly effective links with PROBUS, a local community organisation of retired people. In 2008, we hosted a PROBUS meeting in our school hall. Year 11 Hospitality students provided a sumptuous morning tea and guests were entertained by the Engadine High Show Band, vocalists and dancers.

We welcomed members of PROBUS back to Engadine High on the 16th June 2009 for a repeat performance. Joanne Jarvis, Principal, and Melissa Giddins, Head Teacher English ran a session on the use of technology in learning at Engadine High School followed by a superb morning tea that was catered for by our Year 11 Hospitality students.

The Concert Band, vocalists, drama students and junior and senior dance ensembles performed a range of jazz, rock and contemporary pieces.  Our students thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to perform for such an enthusiastic audience and the feeling was mutual. So, PROBUS will return in 2010!

In addition, two Year 11 students and Mr Stephens, an IPT teacher, will be building a website for PROBUS throughout 2009 ready to launch in 2010.
