English

At Engadine High School the English faculty aims to foster:

• Confident, imaginative and flexible thinkers
• A love and appreciation of the English language
• An ability to use the English language accurately and diversely

• Writing
• Speaking

• Viewing

Years 7 – 10

All students undertake English in these years covering Stage 4 and Stage 5. We study fiction, non fiction, picture books, poetry, short stories, media, film and drama in each stage.

Year 11 Preliminary

It is compulsory to study at least  two units of English for the HSC. The school offers the following English courses:

• English Standard 2 unit
• English Advanced 2 unit
• English Extension 1 unit (additional)
• English Fundamentals 1 unit (additional)

Year 12 HSC

• English Standard 2 unit
• English Advanced 2 unit
• English Extension 1 unit (additional)
