Support Unit

The Staff of Engadine High School’s Support Unit aim to provide learning support and appropriate instructional programs to students who require extra assistance at school. We have two class for I.O students (10 in each class with a Teachers Aide) and one I.M class (18 students with a Teachers Aide).

The Learning Support Team's role is to provide assistance to any student who requires learning support, whether enrolled in one of our special classes or the mainstream.

At different times in their school career many students will require additional help.  Parents or students who feel they might need some assistance should contact Mrs Hooker or one of the school counsellors.

Programs for students having special needs are carefully planned in consultation between school staff, the student and parents.  An Individualised Education Plan (IEP) is prepared for students in the junior school and an Individualised Transition Plan (ITP) for older students.

Students supported by the Support Unit staff undertake a range of regular School Certificate, Higher School Certificate and Life Skills courses.  The range and mix of subjects undertaken by each student is determined as part of each student’s IEP/ITP process.

We aim to create a program that matches the specific needs of each student.
