Concert Band and Stage Band
Concert Band
Engadine High School offers a comprehensive band program that is available to all students regardless of experience. We have a dedicated Band Room facility in which students rehearse every Monday afternoon.
The Concert Band, comprising approximately 45 students, rehearse every week. The repertoire consists of rock, pop, jazz as well as traditional concert band pieces with vocalists accompanying many of the performances.
The Concert Band tours overseas or interstate every two years and regularly performs for school and community events. We have received numerous accolades for the quality of our bands and they are a vital and highly valued part of the fabric of Engadine High School.
In 2009, the Concert Band will tour theme parks and some schools in Queensland and in 2010, we will be hosting the Michigan State Band from the USA, who are part of the International Lions Club community. Our plan is to run a band camp leading to a joint community performance in June.
Stage Band
The Stage Band is a select group of musicians who perform jazz and blues, often with vocalists to achieve a sophisticated, quality sound for sometimes smaller audiences.
In order to ensure that our students receive necessary support, we have a well organised Tutorial Program for guitar, bass guitar, drums, woodwind and brass.
The Band Program is managed by our two expert Music teachers, Mrs Crawford and Mr Drayton. Mr Drayton is also the conductor for the Sydney Regional Band and is our main conductor. Ms Crawford is a recipient of a Sydney Region Award for Outstanding Teaching.
Our band’s motto is “the better we play, the more fun we have.”
